Police investigation on Sussex Drive ‘similar in nature’ to recent bomb threats

The RCMP were active in Ottawa Thursday conducting an investigation in the 300 block of Sussex Drive in downtown Ottawa.

According to Ottawa police, the investigation was “similar in nature to the threats received yesterday.” On Wednesday, there were a number of bomb threats made to Ottawa hospitals, synagogues.

The RCMP in Ontario confirm to CityNews that the investigation is currently ongoing following new emails sent today.

Today’s events are now part of the country-wide investigation into bomb threats made a hospitals and other buildings.

At the time of writing, it is unclear what building(s) were targeted in Ottawa.

The national RCMP said later in the afternoon they responded to “additional bomb threats being made to institutions across Canada”. They said targeted locations include but are not limited to synagogues, museums, malls, ports and art galleries.

There have been no reports of any injuries or confirmed legitimate danger to public safety.
