A young driver is likely facing the music this long weekend after Ottawa police caught him stunt driving.
“We’re pretty sure there’ll be a ‘responsible driving’ conversation between father and son this afternoon,” the Ottawa Police Service’s (OPS) Traffic Escort and Enforcement Unit wrote on X.
The incident happened Aug. 29 in the late afternoon, when an officer clocked a vehicle going 137 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on Limebank Road.
OPS had an officer in the area due to the ongoing complaints by residents in relation to the high speeds, police told CityNews.
The driver was 19 years old and holds a G licence. He was alone in the vehicle and travelling northbound on Limebank Road just south of Tom Roberts Road.
“Losing dad’s two-day old vehicle to a stunt driving charge,” officials said.
The driver was charged, resulting in an immediate 30-day licence suspension and 14-day vehicle impound.
According to OPS, the driver was picked up by his father.
