Transport taken out of service on Hwy. 417, charges pending against trucking company owner

Charges are pending against the owner of a trucking company after a traffic stop in Ottawa.

Around 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12, an officer with the Ottawa OPP spotted a transport truck going approximately 15km/h along Highway 417, while straddling between the right lane and the shoulder.

An OPP officer who was trained in commercial motor vehicle inspections, as well as an Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) officer, conducted a thorough inspection of the truck and found numerous violations.

It was also discovered that the driver was not properly licenced to be operating the vehicle.

The driver was charged accordingly, and charges are pending against the owner of the trucking company.

The vehicle was towed and taken out of service.
