Schools in Kemptville and Iroquois closed due to overnight threats: OPP

Several schools are closed across eastern Ontario this morning due to threats of violence.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said the telephone calls came in overnight from two individuals. One made threats towards St. Michael Catholic High School in Kemptville and the other made threats towards Seaway District High School in Iroquois, a community south of Ottawa.

After consultation with the OPP, school boards made the decision to close all public and Catholic schools in Kemptville on Thursday as a precaution.

At this time, it’s not known if the threats are legitimate, and the investigation continues in an attempt to identify the callers.
