Ottawa man found guilty of first-degree murder in death of wife
An Ottawa man has been found guilty of first-degree murder in the death of his wife and of the attempted murder of their daughter.
The Crown had argued that Hamid Ayoub had made a deliberate plan, but defence lawyers said the June 2021 killing was an impulsive act.
It was not disputed that Ayoub intended to kill his estrange wife when he stabbed her outside a home before stabbing their daughter multiple times when she came to her mother’s aid.

The judge imposed a life sentence on Ayoub with no chance of parole for 25 years for first-degree murder, and a life sentence with no chance of parole for 25 years for attempted murder, to be served concurrently.
