Kayaker rescued from Ottawa River rapids

A kayaker had some assistance from emergency crews on the Ottawa River Tuesday afternoon.

Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) responded to an area of River in the 1-10 block of Island Park Drive just before 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 22.

A 9-1-1 caller had reported a kayaker stuck on the Remic Rapids.

Crews arrived and confirmed the kayaker, who was wearing a personal flotation device, needed help getting back to shore.

The OFS Water Rescue team launched, and the kayaker was pulled to shore at 2:42 p.m.
