Teen charged with second-degree murder following death in Perth

Lanark Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid a murder charge following the death of 15-year-old Reese Stanzel of Perth.
Officers responded to the area of North Street North and Sherbrooke Street East just before 3 p.m. on Oct. 25, where they found the 15-year-old already deceased. A 16-year-old was arrested at the home and charged with second-degree murder.
The accused remains in custody with a bail hearing scheduled for Oct. 26.
Residents of the area will continue to see a large police presence.
The investigation by members of the Lanark County OPP, in collaboration with the Lanark County Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Unit, is continuing under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
