‘Suspicious’ package prompts brief police operation near Parliament Hill

Ottawa Police Service (OPS) and Parliamentary Protective Service (PPS) engaged in an police operation on Tuesday near Parliament Hill.

In an email to CityNews, PPS said it was told of a “suspicious package” at 180 Wellington St., a building used for parliamentary functions, earlier today.

“After analysis, the package was deemed unsuspicious,” officials said.

In a post on X, OPS noted that it assisted PPS in the investigation and several roads and pedestrian ways were closed during the incident.
