1 person trapped, sent to hospital after multi-vehicle collision on Bank Street

Firefighters were called to stabilize vehicles and rescue one person from a five-vehicle collision on Friday afternoon.
It happened on Bank Street at the intersection of Lester Road in the Leitrim area of the city. Ottawa police said the southbound lanes on Bank Street are closed while officers direct traffic.
Once on scene, firefighters saw a five-vehicle collision where airbags were deployed in all vehicles and there was one person trapped inside.
According to a post from Ottawa Fire Services on X, firefighters had to extricate one person from the wreckage.
Officials were called to the scene by Ottawa Police Services at 2:11 p.m. on Jan. 3. Prior to extrication, firefighters needed to stabilize the vehicle. The process to remove the victim started at 2:20 p.m. and was finished a minute later.
Paramedics told CityNews that the person pulled from the vehicle was sent to hospital in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
Fire crews were also tasked with spreading absorbent on the leaking fluids from the vehicles and disconnecting batteries before clearing the scene.
