Customers left without power after vehicle slams into hydro pole

Part of Roger Stevens Drive near the City of Ottawa boundary is closed on Tuesday due to a crash.

According to provincial police, power lines have been knocked down in the area of Montague Township, just east of Smiths Falls. As a result, Hydro One noted that 181 households were without power with an estimated restoration time of early afternoon.

Officials say there are no injuries reported from the collision. Detours are in place at Rosedale Road near Smiths Falls and at Montague Boundary Road on the Ottawa side.

“Plan extra time for commute,” Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said.

Ottawa police, fire crews and OPP are on scene for the investigation and clean up.
