OPS searching for suspect in assault near Somerset Street West

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) Central Criminal Investigation Section is calling on the public to help identify a suspect in an assault on Dec. 19.

Around 6:30 p.m. in the Somerset Street West and Percy Street area, the suspect had a brief encounter with the victim, prior to physically assaulting them.

There were no serious physical injuries reported, OPS wrote in a news release.

According to the officials, the suspect is a white man, around 20 to 30 years old, with a medium build and medium-length brown hair.

During the incident, the suspect was seen wearing skinny, dark-coloured jeans, a dark-coloured beanie, Vans shoes, no socks — and was carrying a skateboard.

Ottawa police are asking anyone with information regarding the suspect’s identity or the incident to call the Ottawa Police Service Central Criminal Investigation Section at 613-236-1222, extension 2193.
