Assault case leads to attempted murder charges for two near Hawkesbury

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a home in a small town near the Ontario-Quebec border on Jan. 23, where they found a man with serious injuries.
Officers said they went to a residence on Plantagenet Concession Road 9 in the Township of Alfred-Plantagenet about 30 kilometres east of Hawkesbury, Ont. In a press release, police say a “serious assault” took place and the 37-year-old man was sent to hospital. He has since recovered, an update on Jan. 23 reads.
Two men fled the scene before police arrived. Officers with the Hawkesbury detachment of the OPP opened the case and worked with the criminal investigation branch and tactics response unit to arrest two people.
Marcus Boodoo, 39 and Zubair Syed, 37, both residents of Ottawa have been charged with an attempt to commit murder.
Both remain in custody with bail hearings scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice in a nearby town.
