Parents pick up G2 driver pulled over for stunt driving on Highway 417

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Ottawa detachment stopped a G2 driver for dangerous driving on Highway 417 earlier this morning.

The vehicle was seen weaving in and out of traffic — into the HOV lane — and was pulled over by an officer for stunt driving, wrote OPP on X.

“Mom and dad had to come pick up the driver,” they added.

According to provincial police, if convicted, the driver will face a minimum $2,000 fine, six demerit points and a one-year driving suspension.

OPP is reminding drivers to slow down and prioritize safe driving.

In another incident on Feb. 24, officers pulled over a vehicle for dangerous driving on Lake Dore Road in North Algona Wilberforce Township, in the Ottawa Valley.

The driver was found going 145 km/h in an 80 km/h zone, early Monday morning, wrote OPP on X.

According to police, the driver is facing numerous penalties, including impounding the vehicle for 14 days, a 30-day license suspension and a date in court.

OPP reported another road incident on Monday, after stopping a driver who was travelling with an insecure load.

According to police, the truck was pulled over by Grenville OPP in Augusta Township on Monday morning, around 50 minutes outside of Ottawa.

The driver is facing a $160 fine for driving with an insecure load, jeopardizing road safety.

This is a reminder that road safety is everyone’s responsibility, noted OPP on X.

Drivers must still secure items, even when in a covered truck bed, to prevent load shifting while driving, explained officials.

“The driver is always responsible for the load they are carrying. Drivers must ensure that all items are securely fastened or contained so as not to fall out or become dislodged while driving,” they wrote.
