Dangerous driving conditions across Ottawa due to flash freeze

While weather alerts have been lifted, Ottawa Police are cautioning of dangerous driving conditions.
The 25 millimetres of rain that fell across the nations capital Wednesday, mixed with melting snow, have now frozen into ice covered roads as temperatures plummet.
Ottawa Police posted on X that between 6:50 and 8:30 a.m. Friday morning, they had received reports of 16 collisions on city streets.
“Please slow down and drive according to the road conditions,” they said.
According to Ottawa Student Transportation (OSTA) many school bus routes are experiencing minor to major delays. Fifteen routes have been cancelled, but all schools across the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board and the Ottawa Catholic School Board remain open.
Icy conditions could continue throughout the weekend as temperatures remain below zero. According to Environment Canada, the low Friday night is -10 C with the high on Saturday reaching -4 C. Sunday is expected to reach 2 C before temperatures drastically warm during March Break.
