OPP respond to stunt driving blitz on Hwy 417

Six drivers have been charged with stunt driving and a seventh evaded police Friday.

Stunt driving on a 400-series highway is classified as going 50km/h or more over the speed limit.

Six drivers were stopped and received an immediate 30-day driving suspension and each had their vehicle impounded for 14 days. They also face a minimum $2,000 fine, six demerit points and a one-year driving prohibition upon conviction.

Police attempted to stop a seventh driver who refused an sped off at a “dangerously high speed” of 280 km/h.

OPP are reminding people to slow down and drive safely.
