‘Lots’ of smoke, flames seen from Orléans apartment

Crews got an early morning call to Orléans after multiple 911 callers reported a fire in a low-rise building.

Firefighters responded just after 4:16 a.m. to the 200 block of Titanium Private just off Highway 174 to the north. Once there teams confirmed “heavy fire” and smoke from a second storey unit.

Initiating a fast attack, firefighters dispatched more resources to the scene and brought a hose into the building. Another crew searched the apartments to make sure no one else was inside.

“Firefighters protected the nearby structures that were at risk of catching fire,” a press release notes.

By 4:56 a.m. the fire was declared under control. Victim services was sent to the scene to help those who will be displaced.

The Ontario Fire Marshal is investigating.
