Elderly woman’s purse stolen in Elmvale Acres

Police were able to locate a thief who assaulted then stole an older woman’s purse in the city’s east end.
The incident happened earlier this month on March 6 in the 1900 block of St. Laurent Boulevard, near Elmvale Acres Shopping Centre.
Police say the suspect approached the woman at 4:50 p.m. and attempted to take her purse, when she refused, he assaulted her and took it anyway. Officials believe he then ran to an OC Transpo bus going toward Industrial Avenue.
According to the press release, the victim’s credit card was used later fraudulently at a nearby store.
