Man dead after crash with tractor-trailer on Highway 174

Ottawa police are appealing for witnesses in a fatal collision that claimed the life of a man.

Officials said the crash happened on Highway 174 between Canaan and Old Montreal roads at around 9:50 p.m. Police responded to a call for collision between a car and a tractor-trailer.

The sole occupant of the car, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead on scene. The driver of the truck was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

On Wednesday morning the city’s traffic camera shows the area is still blocked off by officials and the trailer is yet to be removed. In a press release, police say the roadway is expected to be closed for “several more hours.”

They are asking for witnesses to come forward.
