Possible shooting in Lowertown prompts increased police presence

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) said they are investigating a possible shooting in Lowertown on Monday after reports of gunshots.

Police received many calls around 3:10 p.m. suggesting a possible shots occurred and “someone running” in the Beausoleil Drive and York Street area of Ottawa, they said.

Nearby schools were put into temporary lockdowns that have since been lifted after police deemed it to be safe.

OPS say they are not aware of any injuries at this time and they do not have anyone in custody.

Police want the public to know they might see more police than usual in the areas while they continue their investigation.
