A teenager in Pembroke, Ont. was charged by Ontario Provincial Police after they investigated a case of intimate partner violence.
Officers with the Upper Ottawa Valley detachment were told in April that a former romantic partner of a victim was sharing images without their consent. The victim also told police that they had been threatened and recorded without their knowledge during intimate situations.
On April 29, officials arrested and charged a 15-year-old from the town.
They are facing offences of:
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
- Distribute intimate image without consent
- Imports, distributes, sells or possesses for the purpose of distribution or sale any child pornography
- Voyeurism – two counts
The name of the accused is being withheld due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act and to protect the identity of the victim. Police said the accused was released and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
“If you or someone you know is living in or involved in an abusive relationship help is available,” police said in a press release.
