Ottawa’s hometown heroes will step on the ice tonight in their first-ever playoff game at Place Bell against their rivals: The Montreal Victoire.
The Charge is facing the regular-season winners tonight at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are highly contested, with Montreal taking the upper hand on eight of the nine games between the clubs from last season, but the underdogs won the last two faceoffs against the team.
“We’re feeling pretty excited about this. I know it’s sort of been our rivalry in these first two seasons in terms of fan bases and their proximity. Our games have been really tight,” Brianne Jenner, Ottawa’s captain said.
According to her, the team is motivated to make the best out of the opportunity and is not satisfied with just making the playoffs. Last year, the team just missed out.
“We want to see how far we can take this thing,” Jenner said.
It will be a good test for the team, after they bested Toronto in their final game of the season and clinched the contested playoff spot.
To celebrate, the City of Ottawa installed “Charge Avenue” signs near TD Place in the nation’s capital. It will stand at the intersection of Bank Street and Exhibition Way for the remainder of the series.
