Downtown road closures from Tamarack Ottawa Race weekend

All races are sold out, which means thousands are expected in the downtown core of the nation’s capital for Ottawa race weekend.

The annual run is scheduled to take place Saturday and Sunday this weekend, with people competing in the 5K, 10K, 21.1K and 42.1K, in a loop that takes participants through major parts of Ottawa and Gatineau.

It means that there are a slew of road closures expected over the weekend.

All events start from City Hall and are expected to last on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

On Sunday, closures are in place from 5:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Roads impacted or closed include:

  • Laurier Avenue
  • Elgin Street
  • Queen Street
  • O’Connor Street
  • Bank Street
  • Wellington Street
  • Kichi Zībī Mīkan
  • Booth Street
  • Chaudière Bridge
  • Alexandra Bridge
  • Sussex Drive
  • Sir George-Étienne Cartier Parkway
  • Rideau Street
  • Colonel By Drive
  • Pretoria Bridge
  • Queen Elizabeth Driveway

To help people get to the race, Line 1 and 2 trains will start at 5:00 a.m. on May 24.

Racers and spectators should pack umbrellas as Environment Canada shows rain is likely on Sunday.

Temperatures should hover around 14 C and showers are expected.
