Single-vehicle rollover crash traps driver in rural Ottawa

Firefighters were called to a rural part of the City of Ottawa after police told them there was a driver trapped inside a severely damaged vehicle.

Crews arrived at around 1:35 p.m. on Monday at the 8000 block of Mitch Owens Road, east of the Findlay Creek community. There, officials saw a single vehicle that drove off the road and hit a culvert before landing on its side.

A person was trapped inside.

Firefighters stabilized the vehicle and began the extrication process. A hose line was also brought out as a precaution.

Officials were able to remove the person from the vehicle through the rear hatch by 2:07 p.m.

Fire crews left the scene with Ottawa police at 2:54 p.m.
