Garage fire contained before spreading to Orléans home

The swift actions of Ottawa firefighters Friday night resulted in a garage fire being contained before it could spread to the adjoining townhome.
Shortly after 7:30 p.m., the Ottawa Fire Services Communication Division received a 9-1-1 call from a neighbour reporting a garage fire in a two-storey end-unit townhome in the 6000 block of Nuggett Dr.
Firefighters arrived on scene and confirmed smoke and flames coming from the garage of the home. Firefighters advanced a hose line towards the home and accessed the garage from an inside door to extinguish the flames.
A search was conducted inside the home to ensure all residents had safely evacuated.
The flames were extinguished and the fire was declared under control just nine minutes after firefighters arrived on scene.
Firefighters checked the attic to confirm the fire had not spread and two full searches of the home were completed to confirm all occupants had safely evacuated,
The homeowner was not displaced and there were no injuries reported.
