1 dead, teen with serious injuries following head-on crash

One person is dead and another remains in hospital with serious injuries following a head-on collision between a motorcycle and an SUV.

It happened on Saturday, June 21, at approximately 4 p.m. Members of the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Detachment of the OPP responded to reports of a serious collision on County Road 18 near Chapel Road in the Cornwall area.

Through an initial investigation police determined that a motorcycle carrying two people was struck by an SUV.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 47-year-old male, and the passenger, a 14-year-old male, were both transported to hospital with serious injuries. The driver later died. The 14-year-old remains in hospital.

OPP say the driver of the SUV has been arrested in connection with the incident and details will be released when available.

County Road 18 at Chapel Road was closed for approximately 12 hours but has since reopened.
