OPS seek assistance identifying suspect in commercial robbery

Police say it happened on July 27 around 6:30 p.m. when a store employee in the 200 block of Bank St. observed a man stealing merchandise. Police say the employee attempted to intervene and recover the stolen items, but the suspect allegedly assaulted the staff and fled the scene on foot.

At the time of the incident he was wearing a grey and blue shirt, blue jeans, black shoes, and was carrying a reusable shopping bag. The suspect has several tattoos, including a cross and a flower on the left forearm.

Anyone with information about the identity of the suspect, or who may have details related to the incident, is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit at 613-236-1222, extension 5116. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers.
