The City of Ottawa is reminding residents that lane closures will begin Monday Aug. 25, to help facilitate the construction of the St. Joseph Boulevard loop.
The loop is part of a plan to help enhance bus service transit to and from the Montreal Road LRT Station as part of the Stage 2 O-Train East expansion.
Phase 1 of the project includes roadway modifications and a new turning lane on St. Joseph Boulevard, construction of the entrance to the future bus loop, installation of underground servicing for the future Bus Operator Building, and an extension of cycling facilities.
Lane reductions will occur on St. Joseph Boulevard as construction commences. The city says the majority of construction is expected to take place between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. to minimize traffic disruption.
There will be no westbound lane reductions during the morning peak period and no eastbound lane reductions during the afternoon peak period.

Phase 2 will involve the full construction of the permanent bus loop and operating building. Construction for Phase 2 is anticipated to begin in 2026.
According to the city, $2.7 million in project funds have been approved to date.
