Embrace the wet weather as Ottawa’s Labour Day long weekend forecast appears promising

Those in Ottawa will have to endure a brief stretch of wet weather in order to get rewarded.

Meteorologists at Environment Canada are forecasting rain and thunderstorms to end the work week before a more pleasant Labour Day long weekend.

Rain up to 20 mm could fall in local areas on Thursday afternoon, with showers ending around midnight. Along with the rain comes a threat of a thunderstorm.

Showers continue to headline the weather story on Friday with a 40 per cent chance of rain and a thunderstorm in the afternoon.

Once through the unsettling conditions, the weekend appears a bit brighter.

Saturday’s forecast calls for cloudy conditions with a high of 20 C.

Plan your outdoor activities Saturday and Sunday as the sun is predicted to shine increasing the daily highs between 24 C and 26 C.

Temperatures are expected to continue rising to start the school year with summer still in full swing. Daily highs are expected to reach 28 C.
