Man facing more than two dozen charges in east end assaults

Police are asking for victims to come forward after charging an Ottawa man in connection with several assaults in the east end.

In a press release, officials said that Justin Ricardo Jean Baptiste is facing numerous offences after four separate incidents. Police did not specify where in the east end of the city these assaults took place; however, they did say the incidents happened between July 15 and Sept. 10.

Jean Baptiste followed victims down the street in some of the situations before assaulting and making physical contact with them. In other incidents, the suspect was a client at a business offering professional services, and during that time, he “inappropriately made physical contact with the victim” before following them home and harassing them.

As a result, the accused is facing charges of:

  • Sex assault x 3
  • Mischief under $5000 x1
  • Have face disguised x 1
  • Criminal harassment (watching & besetting, stalking, threatening conduct) x 20

He is described as a Black man in his late 20s with a slender build. He does wear glasses, officials said in the release.

Police are concerned there may be more victims because victims may not know the name of the person charged. That’s why they are releasing the accused’s photo.

The OPS is also asking anyone who has information regarding these assaults to please contact the East Investigations Unit at 613-236-1222 extension 3566.
