Ottawa police launched a homicide investigation after finding a man injured with apparent stab wounds.
Officers were called to the 500 block of St. Laurent Boulevard on Thursday morning around 6:50 a.m., according to paramedics. The man was found with critical injuries and in life-threatening condition. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
No one is in custody, a police press release reads, and the homicide unit is investigating.
As a result of the incident, St. Laurent Boulevard is closed in both directions between Montreal Road and Brittany Drive.
Police told CityNews in an email that the man found is the seventh stabbing-related death in Ottawa this year.
It is also the 14th homicide, with the last coming on June 2 when police were called to the city’s fourth femicide, finding the body of Tracey Duncan, 54. As a result, Stephen Doane, 57, of Ottawa, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
This is a developing story.
