51 offences laid in three-day Ottawa police blitz

Hunt Club Road was the scene of several police take-downs over three days, where officers laid dozens of charges and tickets.

The South Neighbourhood Resource Team was out Nov. 12 to 15, conducting traffic enforcement along the high-speed urban roadway. It resulted in 51 provincial offence notices issued.

Some of the charges include:

  • Drive with window coated/obstructed
  • Fail to surrender insurance card
  • Drive with improper headlights
  • Unsafe lane change
  • Follow too closely
  • Improper muffler
  • Unnecessary noise
  • Fail to signal
  • Fail to surrender licence
  • Cannabis readily available to driver
  • Drive handheld device

Police are warning drivers to obey the rules of the road, especially as the holiday season approaches. Many enforcement operations will continue into December, especially on highways were Ontario Provincial Police will be kicking off the annual R.I.D.E. campagin.
