It’ll be a white Christmas, but also a frigid one

It will certainly be a white Christmas in Ottawa but if you are travelling to celebrate, be sure to pack an extra hat and mittens.

Environment Canada says the high for Christmas Day is -4 C with a windchill making it feel like -9, but by nighttime the temperature will drop to a low of -22 C.

There is also a risk of freezing drizzle in the morning so be careful on the roads. The City of Ottawa says Roads and Parking Services Crews are continuing to work to ensure everyone can get where they need to go safely.

That work began after 16 cm of snow fell in Ottawa Tuesday, making it one of the snowiest Dec. 23 days in Ottawa history.

The bitter cold will continue into Friday with a high of -13 C.

By the weekend it will warm slightly to -9 C and the sun will be out in full swing before snow returns Sunday evening and Monday morning.
