Pride flag cut down in west end prompts investigation

Police are searching for a suspect after a Pride flag had been cut down in Ottawa’s west end on Sunday.

They were called around 8:17 p.m. for a damaged property report on Corkery Road, where they discovered a flagpole had been vandalized. The incident happened in the 1500 block of Corkery Road on June 7.

The suspect was seen wearing a dark-coloured hoodie and dark-coloured shorts and driving a four-door sedan. He is described as a heavy-set man between 25 and 40 years old.

The OPS Hate and Bias Crime Unit is leading the investigation.
