OTTAWA — The Strandherd-Armstrong Bridge is finally prepared to open after about two years of delays.
The bridge connects Barrhaven and Riverside South and is expected to be ready on Saturday afternoon.
The $48 million project was held back with numerous development problems. But Deputy Mayor Steve Desroches told 1310News the community always supported the completion of the project.
“We’ve always been committed to getting the job done,” said Desroches.
“Residents have been very patient, and they’re excited. This is going to open up transportation and transit options, whether they shop, attend recreational facilities or visit relatives.”
The bridge will have eight lanes of traffic including one for public transit, two bike paths, and a sidewalk on each side.
