Police charge man in Debra Ave. daylight shooting

OTTAWA – Police have charged a man in connection to a shooting in the Rideauview neighbourhood.

Police were called to the 900 block of Debra Avenue around 12:40 p.m. Wednesday, after an altercation between two men that had started inside a home, before spilling out onto the street.

That’s when a single shot was fired from a handgun, hitting one of the men’s vehicles.

Glodi Bushiri, 23 of Ottawa, faces charges of discharging a firearm, pointing a firearm and several other firearm related offences. The handgun was never recovered by police.

He is due at the Elgin Street courthouse Thursday morning.

The shooting is the 38th in the city so far this year and the 7th in the past 10 days.
