Gatineau police arrest man wanted in local human trafficking case

Gatineau police are charging a man who they believe convinced a 15-year-old girl to offer sexual services in the Gatineau and Ottawa areas.
Police found out about the suspected activity back in August. Then, on September 15, the man apparently abandoned the girl while keeping her money and cell phone.
Nyoka Mweneloko, 22, appeared before the Court of Quebec on Wednesday, following his arrest on December 12 in Sudbury. He had been wanted by police since October 30.
Mweneloko was answering to charges of:
- Procuring (person under 18)
- Material benefit from the provision of sexual services to a person under the age of 18
- Advertising of sexual services
- Theft under $5,000
- Obstruction
- Obstruction of justice
He remained in police custody pending further proceedings.
