Megabus.com adding new Ottawa route after Greyhound’s departure

By Mike Vlasveld

Megabus.com is set to offer travel between Toronto, Scarborough, Kingston and Ottawa.

From its new stop at St. Laurent Station, the company says it will offer double decker bus service four days a week, between Thursday and Sunday.

“There are many reasons for essential travel throughout Canada right now, and to support the community, we’re excited to announce that all tickets on the new Ottawa route will be absolutely free for the first week of service,” says Megabus.com.

The company says it is also offering an empty seat guarantee, ensuring more personal space on board, as well as enhanced cleaning and ticket flexibility to ensure safe and convenient travel during ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The new route begins on May 20.

Greyhound Canada announced on Thursday, May 13, that it would be permanently cutting all bus routes across the country, shutting down the intercity bus carrier’s operations in Canada after nearly a century of service.
