Montfort emergency department reopens after temporary weekend closure

The Montfort Hospital reopened its emergency department on Monday, Aug. 8 after closing it temporarily over the first full weekend of August due to an “unprecedented shortage” of nurses.

On Friday, Aug. 5, hospital officials announced the Montfort Hospital's emergency department will be closed between 7:30 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 6 and Sunday, August 7 and the closure will remain in effect until Monday, August 8 at 7:30 a.m.

The Carleton Place and District Memorial hospital also closed its emergency department on Saturday, Aug. 6 and reopened on Sunday, Aug. 7.
