A 61-year-old Ottawa man is facing a list of sexual assault-related charges after police say they investigated multiple incidents, involving children, which happened through the 1980s, all the way to 2000.
The Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse (SACA) Section launched an investigation back in 2017, after officers got word of sexual assault incidents, involving a young teenage girl, that they say happened between 1984 and 1990.
Stemming from that investigation, officers say they learned about three incidents involving the same suspect and a young girl (under 10 years old) which happened between 1993 and 2000.
Gerard Bruyere has been charged with:
- Sexual assault (nine counts)
- Gross Indecency (four counts)
- Indecent exposure (two counts)
- Sexual Interference (five counts)
- Invitation to Sexual Touching
- Exposure to person under 14
He is currently in police custody, awaiting a court date.
SACA investigators are concerned there could be other victims in this case.
