Madawaska man suffers injuries from weekend dirt bike crash

By Dani-Elle Dubé

A man from Madawaska Valley is recovering from injuries after his dirt bike crashed in the Township of Madawaska Valley.

On Sunday at about 2:30 p.m., members of the Killaloe OPP responded to the single-vehicle crash on Kartuzy Road.

The 21-year-old driver sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to hospital by Renfrew County paramedics.

Police want to remind operators of off-road vehicles to exercise caution and ride within laws that are designed to keep drivers safe while operating any type of such vehicle.

OPP says investigations in off-road collisions continue to show that losing control, alcohol consumption, lack of experience and overall carelessness are major contributing factors in severe injuries and deaths.

Off-road drivers who operate while impaired by alcohol or drugs adhere to the same penalties that apply to drive a motor vehicle.
