Water quality swimmable at four Ottawa beaches this Canada Day

By Mike Vlasveld

Ottawa Public Health recommends swimming with caution at four of the city's main beaches this Canada Day.

It's given the 'swim with caution' designation after testing water quality at Westboro Beach, Mooney's Bay, Petrie Island East Bay and Petrie Island River Beaches.

OPH says the beach water meets the provincial bacterial standards. Mooney's Bay tested for the highest E. coli levels (127), followed by Petrie Island River Beaches (99), Petrie Island East Bay (53) and Westboro Beach (51).

OPH did not test water quality at Britannia Bay, as the beach remains closed for construction.
