A concert series is being held in Ottawa to raise money for Ukrainian humanitarian-aid relief.
Organizers say the hope is to raise $100,000 through the 'Playing for Ukraine' fundraising event, which will feature two free outdoor concerts.
According to the event's GoFundMe Page, there will be groups of Ukrainian musicians and performers, including a double string quartet, the Ukrainian Men's Choir Akord (who performed Ukraine's national anthem at an Ottawa Senators' game) and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Choir, among many others.
The first concert will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 7 at the Casino Lac-Leamy Plaza at Lansdowne Park, and the second concert will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 8 at St. George Plaza in the ByWard Market.
Even though the events are free of charge, people are encouraged to donate through via the GoFundMe page and donations will also be accepted in-person at the concerts. All proceeds will go towards Canada-Ukraine Foundation to benefit humanitarian aid.
Tax receipts are also available through the page.
As of Wednesday, May 5, the event's GoFundMe Page has raised just over $700 of the $100,000 goal.
