Ottawa's new mayor and council members have officially taken office.

Ottawa's new mayor, Mark Sutcliffe, and 24 councillors were officially sworn in at a ceremony at Ottawa City Hall on Nov. 15.

There are 12 new faces at the council table as the new 2022-2026 term begins.

“The future belongs to those who prepare for it everyday,” said Mayor Sutcliffe during the ceremony. “The future belongs to those who work hard and work together.”

Sutcliffe took the time to acknowledge Ottawa's longest serving mayor, Jim Watson.

“Nobody has ever or will ever again devote more time and energy to the job as mayor, merci a Jim Watson,” said Sutcliffe.
