Police identify York Street homicide victim, release names of suspects

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) Homicide Unit has identified the victim of the city's fourth homicide of the year. 
 
Around 1:20 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21, police responded to a 9-1-1 call for a man shot in the 200 block of York Street.

Gerald Desjardins, 64, succumbed to his injuries. 

Daniel Chapron. 20, of Gatineau, has been charged with second-degree murder and firearm offences. 

Hussein Walid, 20, of Ottawa, has been charged with second degree murder and firearm offences. 

Merveil Kouassi, 26, of Ottawa has been charged with firearm offences. 

All three are scheduled to appear in court today.
