Overnight police chase injures Gatineau officer

By CityNews Ottawa

Three people have been arrested after an overnight police chase that started in east-end Gatineau, and injured a police officer.

A resident reported suspicious people luring around parked vehicles, just after midnight Thursday, in a neighbourhood near Lorrain Boulevard and Highway 50.

When police arrived, they saw two vehicles fleeing the area — one of them turned out to be stolen.

Police chased the two vehicles into a dead-end street, where one crashed. While arresting the driver, the other vehicle struck the police officer and fled.

Gatineau police and the Sûreté du Québec chased the vehicle on Highway 50, eventually stopping it and arresting the two people inside, near Plaisance.

The police officer who was struck has been treated and released from hospital.

Police haven’t yet determined all of the charges to be laid against the three suspects.
