Ottawa OPP charge Renfrew man after impaired hit-and-run collision

A man from Renfrew is facing four charges following a hit-and-run collision in Ottawa.
Shortly after 8 p.m. on Wednesday, the Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received information from the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) about a possible impaired driver.
The OPS was attempting to locate the driver in a vehicle described as a black BMW X3.
A short time later, a vehicle matching that description was involved in a collision on Highway 417 near Woodroffe Avenue, but the driver failed to remain at the scene.
The vehicle was later located at a residence by the members of the Ottawa OPP, who found open alcohol inside.
Police say the driver, 56-year-old Murray Quattrocchi, registered more than three times the legal limit and now faces the following charges:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood concentration (80 plus)
- Fail to remain
- Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
The accused received an immediate 90-day driving suspension and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Quatrrocchi was released on an undertaking and is set to appear in court on Sept. 6, 2024.
