Police asking for help to ID person of interest in suspicious Westboro fire

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a person of interest following a suspicious fire in the Westboro area.

According to OPS, on Sunday, Dec. 1st at 6:10 a.m., police were called to a residential fire in the 400 block of Kenwood Avenue. Officers responding to the scene were a part of a tiered response with Ottawa Fire Services, they noted in a news release.

When fire crews arrived, the front porch of the single family home was already engulfed with flames — extending to the ceiling and through the roof. Minutes later, additional resources arrived.

Following a search of the home, no one was found and the fire was under control by 7:01 a.m.
