It feels as if the nation’s capital is in the midst of a second (or possibly third) winter as the messy snow, rain, and cold continues in the city.
In the last several weeks, Ottawa has experienced multiple snowstorms dumping around 10 centimetres on the city and a freezing rain system that created hazardous driving conditions.
On Tuesday, over several hours, police officers in Ottawa reported over 100 collisions. They also noted that summer tires are “not a great idea” yet due to the unpredictable weather.
Friday, the cloudy, cold weather is expected to continue. The capital is hovering around 5 C, with Environment Canada predicting rain in the afternoon. A mix of precipitation is possible with an estimate of 2 cm of snow.
Saturday is set to be a mix of sun and cloud but first more rain in the morning. Temperatures will start to increase to 11 C, the weather agency believes, and clouds will start to dissipate, clearing out by the evening.
Sunday is set to be a warm, sunny spring day.
The forecast shows temperatures should be around 15 C with clear skies. The warm weather should continue into early next week but the rain could return.
