Firefighters launched ‘aggressive attack’ on Orléans garage blaze

Crews were called to a fire in the garage of a two-storey home in Ottawa’s east end, where they had to jump into action.

Firefighters said they responded around 5:54 p.m. for a vehicle ablaze inside the attached garage in the 2000 block of Boisfranc Circle. Within two minutes, teams were on scene and saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the building.

“Crews launched an aggressive attack, quickly advancing a hose line toward the garage to contain the fire,” officials said in a press release.

During this time, another team went into the home and helped several people to evacuate. No injuries were resulted from the blaze.

To make sure it didn’t spread, firefighters pulled down drywall and insulation in the garage and extinguished more hotspots. It was declared under control 12 minutes after the teams arrived.

Due to quick action, firefighters reported that the family would not be displaced.
