It’s still hot, but not as suffocating in the nation’s capital on Wednesday, as the multi-day heat event was finally dropped.
For the past several days, temperatures have reached between 33 C and 35 C, but factoring in the humidex, it felt as hot as 40. Part of the problem was the little relief in the overnight hours, as temperatures did not go below 20 C.
On July 30, Environment Canada is forecasting a high of 28 C in Ottawa, with a feel-like temperature of 34 C due to the humidity. Despite the temperature still being quite warm, it is not hot enough to warrant a warning from the weather agency.
Overnight temperatures could be as low as 16 C on July 30. The forecast is calling for hazy weather as smoke from the wildfires out west rolls over the city.
Thursday temperatures will be closer to normal for late July. It’s expected to be a high of 25 C, feeling like 27.
This is enough relief for Ottawa Fire Services to drop its open-air fire ban, which has been in place since last week.
The high heat should hold off for the rest of the week according to Environment Canada’s forecast.
